Where To Buy

One of our aims when we decided to build our own slaughterhouse and cutting plant on the farm was to minimise food miles. In line with this we set up Deer & Dexter to sell the venison and Dexter beef we produce either to customers living, holidaying or just passing through the beautiful county of Cumbria, and also by mail order. For mail order please visit our online shops by clicking on the navigation bar.

Buying from the farm
We are happy to prepare orders for collection from the farm, but please do order first and agree a convenient time to collect as we don’t have a shop as such and it is a working farm. Orders can be placed using the online shop.
Local outlets
We make fortnightly deliveries of venison to Low Sizergh Farmshop near Kendal. We're also supplying the Cockermouth Food Assembly so if you live in west cumbria and can collect from Cockermouth on a Friday evening please check out their website for full details, its like an online farmers market.
However our main outlets are farmers markets and food events. Each week we travel to a different part of Cumbria, or just across the Cumbrian border, joining other farmers and local producers selling at monthly farmers' and local produce markets. If you live in the area, or are visiting Cumbria, why not call and see us. We usually have a wider range of produce on our stall than we can offer in our online shop and of course there will be lots of other local food producers at the market with a great range of fresh, local, artisan produced foods on offer.

These are our regular markets

Barnard Castle, first Saturday of the month, usually on the Cobbles, 10-3pm.
Orton, second Saturday, in the village centre, (near Tebay, M6 juntion 38), 9.30-2pm
